This is an important month to recognize the impact that learning disabilities and ASD have on the families of Canada. In the 2011-2012 school year, there were over 18,000 students enrolled in BC schools with a learning disability. During that same period, there were almost 6,000 BC students with a diagnosis of ASD. Often, these are children requiring support in their development of their communication skills. A communication delay or disorder can impact day-to-day living, including academics, employment, relationships, and other activities within our communities. This month, let's shine a spotlight on learning disabilities and with ASD.
